About Me

Originally from Carlisle, PA, I'm a professor of psychology at the University of Richmond and a licensed clinical psychologist. I earned my Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I trained and conducted research in a clinic for people with ADHD. At Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, I received specialized training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for adults with ADHD and contributed to research on this approach. I continue to research and write about how CBT for adults with ADHD can be improved and implemented--from  how college students with ADHD can study more efficiently to how avoidant automatic thoughts may hinder the use of new CBT skills. I am also dedicated to teaching undergraduate students and mentoring them in my research lab.

I live in Richmond, Virginia, with my husband, two sons, and an orange cat named Heathcliff. A voice minor in college, I continue to perform in both classical and popular styles around the Richmond area. I enjoy far too many other hobbies including teaching Jazzercise, rowing on the James River, mixing craft cocktails, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and throwing karaoke parties.
